BhaktiVedPrivacy policy
Effective 17 October 2026. This policy covers the website bhaktived.com and the BhaktiVed Android app (package com.bhaktived.app). The short version: we do not collect personal data, there is no login and no advertising, and what you save stays on your own device.
No account, no ads, no tracking
Neither the website nor the app asks you to register. We show no advertising and use no advertising or analytics SDK. We do not read your contacts, location, photos or files.
What stays on your phone (app)
Your favourites, your lists, your reading position, text-size and language settings, the bhajans you write yourself, and any recordings you save for offline listening are stored only on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes them. We cannot see them.
What the app sends to our server, and when
- Library updates (optional, from Settings): the app asks our server for new or corrected texts, photos and recordings. The request carries only what any web request carries, your IP address and the app version. We keep no record of which device asked.
- Report a mistake / send a text (only when you tap it): the text you type and the id of the text you are on are sent to our moderation queue. To limit abuse we keep a salted hash of the IP address for 24 hours; it cannot be turned back into an address.
- Crash reports: the app sends none. If a future version adds crash reporting, it will be off by default and switchable in Settings, and this page will say so.
Videos and audio
When you tap Listen on a text that has a video, the YouTube player loads from YouTube. YouTube (Google) then receives the usual data a web page load sends, under Google's privacy policy; nothing plays before you tap. Recordings we publish ourselves stream from our own server.
Voice search
The microphone is used only while you hold the Speak button. The words are recognised by your phone's own speech service (Google's on most phones) and the app receives only the recognised text. The app records nothing.
Permissions (app)
Internet (updates, videos, reports), microphone (voice search, optional), notifications (playback controls while audio plays in the background). The app asks before using the microphone and the notification.
The website
bhaktived.com sets no tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, browser) for 14 days for security and to fix errors, then deletes them. YouTube embeds load only on pages that have a video and are served from YouTube's cookie-less domain.
Children
The website and the app are suitable for everyone and collect no personal data from anyone, including children.
Content rights
Every text shows its source. Photographs are our own or published under a free licence with the credit shown; recordings are published only with a recorded right to do so and carry their credit. Rights holders can write to us and we remove content within seven days.
Changes
When the app or the website starts doing something new with data, we update this page first and change the date at the top.
