About the temple
Near the meeting of the Tungabhadra and Krishna, Alampur is Telangana's only Ashtadasha Shakti Peetha, and its seventh-century Nava Brahma temples of the Badami Chalukyas are a treasure of early temple architecture.
The legend
When the old temple was destroyed in a 14th-century raid, the goddess's image was kept safe in the Bala Brahmeswara temple; a new temple on the original site was completed in 2005.
